The San Pablo Police Department is reaching out to the community for help in identifying a suspect connected to an arson case that occurred earlier this month. Last Thursday, officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the 13900 block of San Pablo Avenue, where they discovered a vehicle completely engulfed in flames underneath a carport, according to the San Pablo Police Department.
Responders from the Contra Costa County Fire District swiftly managed to extinguish the blaze before it could injure anyone or cause further damage, besides the vehicle and an adjacent commercial building, which were reportedly unoccupied when the flames rose, charring metal and glass. Investigators at the scene concluded that the fire had been deliberately set. This determination led to the release of surveillance imagery capturing a Caucasian male adult, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, who fled the scene on foot, clad in a black graphic tee layered over a gray long-sleeve shirt, with dark pants and black shoes completing his ensemble.
The San Pablo Police Department has made a public appeal, featuring the suspect's picture, for anyone who might recognize the individual or have any related information. The contact for this investigation is Detective J. Spiegel, reachable at [email protected] or by phone at 510-215-3109. The department has emphasized that this remains an active investigation and encourages potential witnesses or those with further insights to come forward. Additional contacts can be made directly to the SPPD Investigations Division at 510-215-3150.
