Riding the waves of high approval, the SF Bay Ferry continues to make a splash with its riders, boasting a staggering 98% customer satisfaction rate in 2025, per the ferry service's latest survey findings. This isn't the first time they've landed such impressive numbers; satisfaction has been floating at this level for the past three years, peaking at 99% back in 2023, according to the survey conducted by Corey, Canapary & Galanis in April.
The survey, which turned up results such as 71% of those surveyed feeling “very satisfied” and 27% content with “satisfied,” showcases that the transit system is more than just a vessel plying the bay—it is, for many, a reliable and comfortable passage to their daily destinations, and for SF Bay Ferry Board Chair Jim Wunderman, the gratifying results reflect a harmony of “thoughtful management and a team of dedicated crew members,” he expressed this view with palpable pride, the San Francisco Bay Ferry articulated.
Dimensions such as comfort, safety, and ease topped the list of what riders appreciated about the ferry encounters, with 75% of folks surveyed touting relaxation and stress reduction as their prime motives to ride. Two-thirds admitted they'd resort to car-based alternatives if not for the maritime route; notably, 43% would likely commute solo by car, shedding light on an environmental bullet dodged thanks to the ferry's existence.
It's not just customer satisfaction that's on the up; patronage statistics are also riding high, with a nod-worthy 17% increase over the past year. This means the ferry is not just charting the waters but charting new peaks in ridership since the swing of 2019.
