The SLATE Missouri Job Center will host the Apprenticeships & Trades Career Fair on September 24 at 1520 Market Street from 9 a.m. to noon. Over 30 apprenticeship and training providers, along with hiring employers, are expected to participate. The event is part of National Workforce Development Month and National Apprenticeship Month and coincides with SLATE's 50th anniversary, according to the City of St. Louis website.
SLATE offers apprenticeships that allow individuals to earn while learning skills in sectors such as healthcare, construction, IT, and transportation. The agency places over 100 job seekers annually into various programs, including healthcare apprenticeships that prepare Certified Nursing Assistants for jobs earning up to $40,000 annually, with potential advancement to roles such as Medical Assistant and Registered Nurse.
Confirmed participants include IBEW Local 1, St. Louis Community College, and other organizations. SLATE's YouthBuild pre-apprenticeship program trains more than 50 young people each year, and programs like the Missouri Works Initiative provide additional workforce pathways.
