The Socorro Independent School District (SISD) has taken a significant step to highlight the excellent customer service provided by its employees. Between July 7 and August 21, the district received more than 396 "shoutouts" from colleagues, parents, and other staff members recognizing remarkable staff contributions. Out of these commendations, three individuals were bestowed with the district’s inaugural Elite Level Customer Service pins, according to Socorro ISD.

The acknowledgement program, dubbed the Elite Level Customer Service program, is a testament to the district's dedication to fostering a culture of excellence. Cleofas Barrios, the head custodian at America's High School, and Wanona Hendrix, a special education teacher at SSG. Manuel R. Puentes Middle School and Rosalba Herrera, a first-grade bilingual teacher at John Drugan School, were the ones who stood out among the ten finalists to become the elite recipients. “These individuals exemplify the SISD WAY,” the district said, acknowledging their exceptional service that goes "above and beyond."

Cleofas Barrios, praised for his commitment to a clean, secure, and welcoming school environment, was one of the honored with an Elite Level Customer Service pin. "Every day, he goes above and beyond to support our students, staff, and community members with a commitment that is safe, individualized, sensitive, determined, and welcoming," noted Socorro ISD. His ability to make the campus a place 'where everyone feels valued and respected' has been significant for the Americas High School community.

Wanona Hendrix's dedication to her students, particularly to students with special needs, is best illustrated by her proactive approach to adapting her teaching methods and classroom environment to support a student with diabetes. “She consistently checked in with us, made sure his educational needs were being met, and supported us every step of the way,” the parents of the child lauded in their testimonial, as per Socorro ISD. Hendrix's meticulous efforts to integrate care for her student within the educational setting, without causing disruption, stand as a remarkable example of customer service in education.
