In a jarring case centered around a St. Louis County, Missouri, toddler’s abduction, two men have confessed to the kidnapping charges brought against them. Kendal “KD” White, 20, of St. Charles and Cam’Ron Henderson, 20, of St. Louis entered guilty pleas for their roles in a scheme that involved snatching a 2-year-old to leverage the return of missing firearms. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Missouri, the ordeal unfolded last August when the suspects assaulted the child’s mother and forcibly took the toddler from her.
Documents filed with the court revealed White’s motive—he believed the toddler's father had taken weapons and other items from him. This belief set off a series of events on Aug. 10, 2023, which led the suspects to violently break into the mother's residence after failing to locate the father. "White struck her in the head with his gun multiple times before grabbing the toddler from her arms," detailed an official statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Henderson and White subsequently tried to hastily evade an intense police search, spurred by an Amber Alert for the kidnapped child.
Their attempt to remain at large fell through when they learned of the Amber Alert that described their getaway vehicle. A revelation, White felt compelled to quickly devise a plan to return the child. Court records disclosed that White paid three women to bring the toddler safely to an uncle's home. The child was unharmed, signaling the end of the immediate danger but the lasting impacts of such trauma are not easily measured.
Sentencing for the two culprits has been set. Henderson is to face the consequences of his actions on December 2, and White is scheduled shortly after, on January 27. The crime of kidnapping carries a substantial punishment, with both facing a mandatory minimum of 20 years imprisonment. The case presented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski was thoroughly investigated by both the St. Louis County Police Department and the FBI, ensuring the facts were laid bare and justice could be sought.
