A St. Louis man faces multiple charges in connection with a double shooting in the Mark Twain neighborhood. FOX2now reported that the incident happened Friday evening, leaving a 42-year-old man dead and a 34-year-old man in critical condition.
According to KSDK, 38-year-old Johnny L. Dukes has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and four counts of armed criminal action. A warrant has been issued with no bond allowed.
St. Louis police found the victims inside a Nissan on North Euclid Avenue, as per the St. Louis Post Dispatch report. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to the hospital. A probable cause statement described Dukes as intoxicated and belligerent before the shooting, which led one witness to leave the area. Later that evening, Dukes allegedly followed a witness and began shooting.
Charging documents state that witnesses identified Dukes as the shooter from a photo lineup. Court records show he previously served time in state prison for a 2012 felony conviction for unlawful use of a weapon and was placed on probation in February for misdemeanor assault.
