A standoff in Blanchard ended with three fatalities, including the suspect. The McClain County Sheriff’s Office stated the incident began when deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence near 300th and Coyle Drive around 11:53 a.m., News 9 reported.
According to OKC FOX, deputies discovered two bodies and an armed suspect. The victims have been identified only as an adult male and an adult female, along with the male suspect. Their names have not been released.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) reported the situation escalated into an officer-involved shooting after law enforcement engaged with the armed individual. The OSBI has not confirmed whether the suspect’s fatal wound was self-inflicted or from gunfire, how many officers fired their weapons, or which agency was involved. Investigators are also working to determine the relationships among the deceased, as reported by KFOR.
The suspect refused to comply with authorities, prompting a tactical response that led to the deadly shooting. The OSBI continues to investigate how the welfare check turned into a fatal confrontation.
