For those who find history most compelling when it is experienced rather than simply read, the annual Mesquite Meander offers a unique opportunity to step into the past. Hosted by Historic Mesquite, Inc., this living-history event brings the community’s heritage to life in an engaging, entertaining, and educational way, as per the City of Mesquite.
Now in its 15th year, the tour transforms the Mesquite Cemetery into an open-air stage, where local actors embody former residents and share their stories. Tickets, priced at $15, are currently available, though they are expected to sell out quickly based on previous years’ demand.
Each tour lasts approximately one hour. On Friday, October 10, tours begin at 6:00 p.m., with the final tour departing at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 11, tours will start at 5:30 p.m., with the last group departing at 7:00 p.m., allowing attendees greater flexibility in their evening plans.
In addition to the immersive historical experience, participants will receive a culinary incentive: Mesquite BBQ, a local favorite, is extending a 15 percent discount to ticket holders during the event dates. Each ticket is valid for one discount, redeemable upon presentation at the restaurant.
Tickets may be purchased through Historic Mesquite’s official website or by calling 972-216-6468 for direct assistance. Availability is limited, so early reservations are strongly recommended.
