A recent incident in Sunrise has led to the arrest of a mother after she reportedly left her three children in a sweltering car while shopping at Walmart. Ciera Washington, age 29, faces charges of child neglect without great bodily harm, authorities confirmed.
Yesterday, Washington was taken into custody, and the subsequent bond court proceedings highlighted her lack of prior arrests. "She's never been arrested in her life. She’s residing here her whole entire life," a defense attorney said, as per NBC Miami. The kids, found in a car without the air conditioning running, were thankfully unharmed.
Broward jail records indicate that Washington's bond has been set at $3,000. Furthermore, she has been ordered not to have contact with her children, with the exception of through dependency court proceedings. The judge presiding over the case found probable cause for the charges laid against her.
