Suburban Round Lake Beach became the scene of a shooting late Tuesday night when a 19-year-old woman was shot inside a vehicle. The incident, which took place around 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Clarendon Drive, led to a teenage boy being brought into custody, FOX 32 Chicago reported. The victim, discovered outside a parked car and suffering from a gunshot wound, received aid from a bystander before being rushed to a local hospital.
An intense investigation quickly followed, revealing a 17-year-old boy, who was an acquaintance of the victim, as the alleged shooter. He had apparently fled the scene before police arrival but was located subsequently and arrested. The authorities have charged the young suspect with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery with great bodily harm. He is now held at the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Complex Center, police informed.
Despite the violent nature of the event, law enforcement assured that the shooting was an isolated incident, posing no further threat to the community. They haven't released additional information regarding the motive or the circumstances leading to the altercation.
