Santos, on his way to play basketball, said, "It all happened fast" when the dog bit him below the belt, prompting a trip to the emergency room; he is expected to recover. Witnesses described the dog as hostile, with one mother telling KSAT that "He almost bit one of my kids" and "he did sound very aggressive."
Animal Care Services and San Antonio police responded to the incident, and an investigation is ongoing. The dog remains at large, and witnesses said the owner walked away with it after police arrived.
Santos told Newton County News, "there needs to be consequences for the dog and its owner" and urged to "Keep it away from the kids at the park."
