Federal inmate Jeremy Mack, 50, already serving a life sentence, has received an additional 30 years and 5 months in prison after pleading guilty to the second-degree murder of his cellmate at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on September 3, 2021. Correctional officers responding to an inmate distress alarm at 9:28 p.m. found Mack with blood on his hands and forearms. His cellmate, Stephen Cannada, was found dead with multiple stab wounds to the neck and abdomen. Medical staff pronounced Cannada deceased despite life-saving efforts.

U.S. District Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson imposed the sentence and ordered Mack to pay $3,000 in restitution. Mack had previously been convicted in the Northern District of Ohio of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, drug trafficking, sex trafficking of children, and obstruction of justice.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Prisons.
