A 24-year-old Texas man has been taken into custody over a brutal incident that occurred outside a Miami Panda Express earlier this year. Reiver Jose Sanchez-Molero faces serious charges after allegations of beating a man with a metal bat and forcibly taking the victim's phone to Zelle transfer $300 to his account. The violent encounter unfolded on Flagler Street, sparking an exhaustive multi-month investigation that led to his recent arrest.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office provided details of the April 29th attack. According to Local 10 News, the confrontation began as the victim was about to enter the eatery when Sanchez-Molero, wielding a metal bat, gave chase and repeatedly struck the victim on the head. An arrest warrant indicated that after the beating, Sanchez-Molero compelled the victim to the ground, snatched their cellphone, and completed a $300 Zelle transaction to himself.

A surveillance video which captured the attack and subsequent robbery helped in identifying the perpetrator. "That video, along with the Wells Fargo bank account information to which the money was sent helped detectives identify Sanchez-Molero as the suspect," the arrest warrant explained. Indeed, Sanchez-Molero was identified earlier this year but was believed to have spent some time in Texas before his capture, as stated by authorities, as reported by Local 10 News.

After the long search, Sanchez-Molero is now behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces charges including armed robbery, aggravated battery with a weapon, and false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, NBC Miami reported. In addition to these charges, the suspect is also being held on an immigration hold, a detail that further complicates his legal predicament.

The victim, who suffered injuries during the assault, identified Sanchez-Molero through a photo lineup presented by deputies. As the case proceeds, Sanchez-Molero remains in custody without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
