Drivers planning to navigate through St. Mary Parish on US 90 will need to adjust their schedules this coming Tuesday. According to an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), both Eastbound and Westbound lanes between LA 182 in Berwick and LA 662 (Exit 185) will experience alternating lane closures. The work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and aims to conclude by 2:00 p.m. on September 30, subject to the mercy of weather conditions. The lane closures are for Statewide Sign crews to effectively remove the overhead Weight Limit signage for two local bridges; drivers should anticipate some delays.
The necessity for these interruptions comes as maintenance crews will toil to dismantle signage for the Bayou Ramos Bridge on the Atchafalaya Bridge and the Bayou Boeuf Bridge. No alternate routes have been suggested, indicating that the closures are not expected to severely impact the flow of traffic. Furthermore, the DOTD has clarified that no truck restrictions will be enforced during this time, and emergency vehicles will still be able to pass, albeit with potential delays.
