San José Police Department (SJPD) officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue early this morning following reports of gunshots and a woman's screams for help. This violent episode left three people dead in what marks the city's latest homicides, numbers 19 through 21 for the year. The initial call came in at approximately 12:26 AM.

Upon arrival at the scene, SJPD found an adult female victim outside the residence with at least one gunshot wound, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, she later died of her injuries, according to SJPD's press release. Meanwhile, inside the home, officers discovered a second female and an adult male victim, both of whom also suffered from gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and despite receiving medical attention, the male victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The unidentified perpetrator had fled before law enforcement arrived. The identities of the victims remain undisclosed pending notification by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
