Tulsa drivers should expect ongoing traffic disruptions as several major highway construction projects affect daily commutes. According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, northbound and southbound US-75 will have intermittent lane closures near I-244 in the northeast section of the Inner Dispersal Loop daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through mid-October. This work is part of a continuing effort to improve the state’s infrastructure.
In addition, eastbound I-244 has been reduced to a single lane at the US-75 junction, located in the northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop. This lane reduction, caused by bridge rehabilitation work, is scheduled to last throughout the entire month. The department has indicated that these restrictions will continue through October, so drivers should plan their routes accordingly.
For those traveling westbound on SH-51/Broken Arrow Expressway, the left lane between Memorial Dr. and Mingo Rd. is unavailable from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. today. According to the advisory, this closure is for a lighting improvement project aimed at enhancing roadway illumination
The I-44/US-75 interchange is expected to remain under construction until the summer of 2028. As part of this extensive project, key ramps between the interstates have been closed, resulting in significant rerouting for drivers. Eastbound and westbound I-44 ramps to northbound US-75 are closed, with traffic directed to use I-244 as an alternative route. These detours have become the necessary routes for daily commuters navigating the ongoing construction.
Further along, work continues on the I-44 and SH-66 interchange improvement in Catoosa, leading to additional lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-44, SH-66, and related ramps. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has committed to keeping two lanes open in both directions during peak hours. However, the westbound I-44 off-ramp to northbound SH-66 is currently closed, with a detour available via the 165th E. Ave. exit to rejoin eastbound I-44, as per the directive from the Tulsa traffic advisory.
Bridge rehabilitation work on US-75 between 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. will continue to reduce traffic to one lane through summer 2026. In Glenpool, lane shifts, ramp closures, and reduced speed limits will be in effect along US-75 at 141st St. through October due to bridge construction. The southbound US-75 off-ramp to 141st St. is scheduled to remain closed until mid-September, further impacting traffic in the Tulsa area.
Lastly, SH-97 in Sand Springs is undergoing pavement reconstruction, which is expected to continue until November 2025. Two-way traffic will be maintained during peak hours, but the eastbound US-412 on-ramp from SH-97/Wilson Ave. will be closed through September. Similarly, SH-66 near Catoosa is reduced to one lane at the Bird Creek bridge until early 2026 due to a bridge replacement project.
