Tunica County drivers are facing some upcoming inconvenience as a section of Old Hwy 61 S is set to close for bridge repair works. The Tunica County Sheriff's Office took to social media to inform the public about the road closure, which is scheduled to begin Thursday, in the morning hours. Motorists who usually travel between Cobb Road and Austin Road will need to find an alternative route to circumvent the area where the bridge over White Oak Bayou is due to be replaced.
Those who frequently navigate this stretch of road will need to start planning to adjust their routes. The Sheriff's Office is urging the community to give their full attention and cooperation for the safety of the construction crews who will be actively engaged in the area. The announcement detailed that the road would be completely closed off and emphasized the importance of abiding by detour signs and instructions aimed at keeping both the workers and the public safe during the construction period.
