
An attempted robbery at an Oakland pawn shop turned deadly when gunfire erupted between the suspects and the shop owner. According to ABC7 News, two individuals were fatally shot, and four were injured in the incident that took place yesterday in the 7100 block of International Boulevard.
The altercation unfolded at the Cash 4 Gold establishment when, per the report by the KTVU, a group of five armed suspects entered the shop and were met with resistance from the owner. An exchange of gunfire led to the death of two suspects, with one dying at the scene and another later at the hospital. Additionally, three other suspects were injured and are reported to be in police custody.
Upon their arrival, Oakland Police officers found multiple individuals struck by bullets. Medical staff confirmed the death of one person at the scene, and others, including the shop owner, were transported to an area hospital. The Oakland Police Department indicated that the owner is expected to survive, as noted by a spokesperson from the Oakland Police Officers Association in an interview obtained by ABC7 News.
The aftermath of the shootout left the local community shaken. A bystander, speaking about the rising crime rates in the area, said, "My kids are scared when I go to the store, because there’s no telling what’s going to happen," in a statement to KTVU. "The response ain't coming fast enough, you hear what I’m saying?" The identities of the deceased suspects are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
