In Campbell, a routine response to a two-vehicle collision on San Tomas Expressway escalated to a secondary accident, resulting in injuries to two tow truck drivers. According to the City of Campbell Police Department's social media post, the original crash occurred yesterday at 8:58 AM near Hamilton Avenue.
While the wreckage was being cleared, around 11:08 AM, disaster struck. Involved in the mechanics of their labor, two tow truck drivers who had been aiding in the response were hit by another vehicle. Both were promptly transported to the hospital, each harboring injuries, yet thankfully stable.
The circumstances leading to this additional collision are currently under investigation. As per the City of Campbell Police Department, the driver involved in the secondary crash has been cooperative, and at this point, intoxicants are not considered a contributing factor.
