As the University of Cincinnati reports, the revamped program has welcomed 22 new ambassadors from varied high schools. These ambassadors, equipped with specialized training and experience, will selflessly pour their insight into their fellow students’ future, helping them navigate the daunting steps from application to acceptance.
Cortney Matthews, the associate director of admissions who spearheads the refreshed initiative, noted the significance of student involvement. "UC has a strong tradition of collaborating with our area high schools, but with the Cincinnati Ambassadors program, the students get to be the driving force in the partnership," she told the University of Cincinnati. The program's return echoes the university's Bearcats for Life vision, prioritizing "community and campus engagement." Diversifying its reach, the Cincinnati Ambassadors program now envelops all three UC campuses, thus embracing a broader swath of prospective college students.
These Cincinnati Ambassadors are not mere volunteers; their efforts are acknowledged with compensation, leadership training, networking chances, and some UC-branded merchandise to sport. While supporting community and high school events, the ambassadors create an entryway to college access. Although applying to UC isn’t compulsory for these young guides, the ones who choose to walk along the ambassadors may then extend the hand back, receiving additional guidance on constructing robust UC applications.
