Chanhassen drivers, it's time to brace for a bit of congestion. The City of Chanhassen has announced lane closures set to begin this Monday, September 29, and it looks like our commutes will be testing our patience for a few days. We're talking about a series of closures necessary for private utility work that are bound to impact traffic flow in certain areas.
According to a social media post from the City of Chanhassen, Minnesota Government, the affected routes include eastbound W 78th St at Kerber Blvd from September 29 through October 3, and a double whammy with eastbound W 79th St at Great Plains Blvd and southbound Great Plains Blvd, feeling the pinch from September 29 to October 1. While driving through these areas, expect delays and consider leaving for your destination earlier than usual.
It's not just the destination that matters, but the journey—and these upcoming days it seems the latter might be a tad longer than we'd like. The city's announcement reminds us that this inconvenience, like the weather that rules over it, is dependent on the sky's whims. If clouds decide to cry, the work could shift, but let's not hold our breath for a skyward reprieve.
So, fellow Chanhassenites, as we approach Monday, let’s plan our routes with a little extra care and our mornings with a bit more coffee. The lane closures are a given, but our reaction to them is ours to choose. Finding an alternative route or possibly sharing a ride could be a silver lining in this temporary cloud of traffic disruption.
