The UTEP soccer team is gearing up for a demanding homestand beginning this week. With a current record of 3-6-1, including a 0-1-0 mark in CUSA play, the Miners are set to face preseason favorite Liberty, followed by a clash with conference newcomer Delaware. These matchups are scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., respectively. As per UTEP Miners, fans can follow the action live with streams on ESPN+ and live stats provided by Stat Broadcast. The UTEP Lady Miners team roster is stacked with underclassmen, freshmen, and sophomores, who combined are logged for a whopping 57.7 percent of the possible playing time, reflecting the team's investment in their future.
Soccer enthusiasts should note that both Liberty, ranked No. 4, and Delaware, sitting at No. 6, hold positions in the United Soccer Coaches' Top-10 poll for the South Regional. Thursday's "Green Game" aims to highlight efforts in mental health awareness while fans enjoy green chile hot dogs. On Sunday, the Miners will honor the alumnae, paying homage to the 2005 team, which had a notably successful run in the NCAA Tournament. According to UTEP Miners, that year included a dramatic comeback against Texas, catalyzing the Miners' advancement.
The UTEP players have shown promise and resilience in spite of their overall record. Freshman GK Savanah Finley, who has played every minute of the season, showcases potential with four shutouts, just one shy of the school's single-season top-10. Ana Quintero has been a standout as well, having notched three goals and leading the CUSA in shots per game. In a recent turn of events, co-captain Ashlee Mora has been summoned once again to the U-20 Mexico National Team for training, her third such invitation since April 2025.
