The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has officially commenced its homecoming week with a flurry of engaging events aimed at stirring school spirit among students, alumni, and the larger community. The week began with the 15th annual Miner Dash 5K Run/3K Walk on Sunday, as reported by KTSM. UTEP's campus received a burst of energy during the Miner Morning Mania yesterday, featuring performances by UTEP's marching band, cheer and dance teams, and the mascot Paydirt Pete to rally the Miner pride.
Continuing the celebrations, UTEP has slated a homecoming pep rally for September 25, which will be held on the second floor of the Union Building East. As obtained by KFOX-TV, UTEP band, cheer, and dance teams are expected to notably heighten the Miner spirit in anticipation of the upcoming homecoming game.
The festivities are set to culminate in a football game against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on September 27 at the Sun Bowl Stadium. In preparation, the UTEP Alumni Association is already organizing a pregame party from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. prior to Saturday's game, as reported by KFOX-TV. This event is an opportunity for attendees to connect before cheering on the Miners at the 7 p.m. game, with tickets available for purchase online.
Adding to the week’s activities, UTEP’s Marching Band and spirit teams gathered early on Monday, rallying the campus community with performances in Centennial Plaza from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., according to KVIA. The energized kick-off event was designed to deeply engage students and alumni, setting the tone for a week filled with Miner pride and celebration.
