A fatal crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 3235 in Lafourche Parish last Saturday morning. According to the Louisiana State Police release, Clovis Vizier, 63, was driving a 2014 Kawasaki Teryx UTV when he attempted to cross the highway and entered the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado. Vizier was fatally injured in the collision.
The crash happened shortly after 6:00 a.m. Police reported that Vizier was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. The driver of the Silverado was uninjured and a voluntary breath test showed no alcohol present. A standard toxicology sample from Vizier has been submitted for analysis.
The Louisiana State Police reminded the public that UTVs are not permitted on public roads except for farming or other uses specified under Louisiana Revised Statute 32:299. Troopers also highlighted the importance of safety equipment such as DOT-approved helmets for motorcycles and ATVs and seatbelts for UTVs, which can reduce the risk of severe injuries or fatalities.
