According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in San Francisco, Bay Area residents can expect a warm and potentially rainy start to the week. The weekend started with a warming trend, with Saturday highs reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s for interior locales and slightly cooler temps by the coast, ranging from the 60s to mid-70s, the National Weather Service San Francisco reported.

The warm up extends into early next week as a weak offshore flow develops on Monday, but don't put away your umbrellas yet, with the upper low off the California coast contributing to the increasing chance of showers or isolated thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday, the upper level pattern will shift, causing temperatures to continue rising into Monday, the weather service expects dry conditions to prevail into early next week, perhaps accompanied by some light offshore winds Monday into Tuesday.

Aviation conditions will also reflect the changing weather, with variable low cloud cover expected throughout the morning hours on Saturday, lifting to clearer skies and breezier winds by afternoon. Mariners should also note that lighter winds are anticipated over the weekend with some local breezy conditions near coastal jets; however, the winds are foreseen to pick up into Sunday afternoon, spreading across coastal waters and escalating further into the work week, according to NWS San Francisco's update.

For those planning to fly or sail in the region, temporary IFR/MVFR conditions may emerge along the coast and bays during the evening, San Francisco International Airport is slated for MVFR conditions into late morning but will see improvements by afternoon as SFO and the bridge approach are expected to experience similar patterns, meanwhile, the Monterey Bay terminals will see MVFR/IFR early in the morning, clearing later on as the winds strengthen.
