Atlanta drivers should be aware of a road closure affecting the city center this weekend. The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) announced that a section of Cone Street NW will be off-limits to traffic due to building maintenance work.
The closure, which runs along Cone Street NW from Walton Street NW to Poplar Street NW, is scheduled for the daylight hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. This will provide the necessary space for activities at 87 Walton Street NW, which demands the temporary inconvenience for the sake of long-term structural integrity.
To keep the traffic moving, ATLDOT has released a set of detours which includes a straightforward reroute for northbound and southbound traffic along Cone St NW. Drivers going north will be directed to turn right onto Walton St NW, then left onto Forsyth St NW and Luckie St NE, before taking a right onto Cone St NW to fall back into usual traffic. Meanwhile, southbound travelers will have to turn left on Poplar St NW, make a right on Forsyth St NW, followed by a right on Marietta St NW and another right onto Cone St NW to complete the detour loop.
Eastbound vehicles on Walton St NW will need to bypass Cone St NW entirely, instead turning left onto Forsyth St NW, then left onto Luckie St NW, and finally making a right onto Cone St NW to resume their course. Pedestrians are advised to make alternative arrangements as sidewalks along Cone St NW will remain inaccessible during the hours of street closure. Traffic enforcement officers will be on the ground to guide vehicles and ensure that detours are smoothly managed.
