Heads up, commuters: If your weekend plans involve hitting the Loop 303, it's time to look for an alternate route. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the Loop 303 will be shut down in sections for pavement maintenance from Oct. 3-5. The closure will affect both northbound and southbound lanes at different times, impacting travel between Goodyear and Peoria.

Specifically, the northbound Loop 303 is slated for closure between Interstate 10 and Happy Valley Parkway starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, until 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. ADOT recommends detours that include northbound options like Cotton Lane and Sarival Avenue or taking Dysart Road to Bell Road before proceeding north on 91st Avenue and finally west on Happy Valley Road to reconnect with Loop 303 above the closure.

Not to be outdone by its northern counterpart, the southbound Loop 303 will follow suit with closures between Happy Valley Parkway and I-10 from the evening of Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. to the early afternoon at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Detour paths suggest exiting at Happy Valley Parkway, taking 91st Avenue, and then using Bell Road to reach Dysart Road, Estrella Parkway, or other southbound arteries to access I-10.

In their statement ADOT urges drivers to exercise caution and be prepared to slow down and safely merge when entering and exiting these work zones. For those seeking more detailed information or updates on the closure and detour routes, check out the official announcement by ADOT.
