In the early hours of yesterday morning, a woman was tragically shot and killed in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, marking yet another violent incident in the string of crimes plaguing the city. The gunfire erupted around 1:30 a.m. and officers from District 1 quickly responded to a call in the 4400 block of Minnesota, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon their arrival, police discovered the victim, a woman believed to be in her 40s, suffering from gunshot wounds, despite the swift response and efforts of emergency medical services who attempted life-saving measures, she could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene, as per the report released by SLMPD.
The case has now been escalated to the homicide division, where detectives are taking the helm of the investigation in the hopes of shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this latest act of violence and identifying the person or people responsible.
