A fire at the Reserve at Gwinnett Apartments in Norcross displaced about 60 residents yesterday. The blaze began around 2:45 p.m. on Graves Road NW, with flames originating in a third-floor apartment before spreading to nearby units and the attic, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
Firefighters responded after a 911 caller reported flames through the roof. Despite extensive damage, no injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting affected families.
According to 11Alive, the fire was first noticed just before 3 a.m. by a neighbor who helped with evacuations. Fire crews initially attacked the fire directly but shifted to a defensive strategy as it spread to the attic. Georgia Power disconnected electricity to the building, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
