A 73-year-old hunter was safely rescued after becoming lost in the Camp Baker area of Vernon Parish. The incident occurred on Saturday last week, when the man called 911 after realizing he was disoriented and unable to find his way back to his vehicle, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).

LDWF agents and the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office launched a coordinated search at approximately 2:30 p.m. The joint effort successfully concluded around 6:45 p.m., when the hunter was located and brought back to safety.

The rescue operation involved LDWF Sgt. James Smith, Sgt. Devin Bryant, Senior Agent Callie Pitre, Agent Kenneth Cheramie, and Agent Michael Rick. Authorities reported that the hunter was returned to his vehicle unharmed.
