As Detroit continues to reshape its skyline and dining scene, the latest addition has been announced: Andiamo Italian Chophouse is set to become the anchor restaurant inside the upcoming JW Marriott Detroit Water Square. This upscale dining establishment, part of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, will offer guests both indoor and outdoor seating options, with space for 200 diners inside and additional seating along the picturesque Detroit Riverwalk, Detroit News reports.

The new luxury hotel, slated to open its doors in January 2027, aims to rapidly become a key economic catalyst and a hub for exceptional experiences, as per Danny Samson, Sterling Group's chief development officer. "We are thrilled to welcome Andiamo Italian Chophouse at Water Square as the first announced restaurant at Water Square," Samson told WXYZ. It will be located at the former Joe Louis Arena site, and with 600 guest rooms over 25 stories, and facilities that include a fitness center, spa, and convention space, the JW Marriott is set to intricately connect to the heart of downtown Detroit.

Noteworthy is the dynamic shift this represents for the Andiamo brand, with its existing riverfront location at the Renaissance Center, a space undergoing its own reinvention, expected to shutter, though the exact date remains undisclosed. The new space within the JW Marriott will house some of the classic dishes Andiamo is known for, but it will forge its own identity, distinct from the RenCen eatery, AXIOS Detroit details.
