Authorities in Aspen Hill are investigating a fatal collision that killed 11-year-old Summer Lim, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU). The incident occurred on Thursday last week, at around 3:13 p.m. at the intersection of Bauer Drive and Russett Road after multiple 911 calls reported that a young bicyclist had been struck by a school bus.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, the school bus, a 2019 Thomas, was making a right turn onto Russett Road while transporting students home from Earle B. Wood Middle School, where Lim was also a student. Lim, who was riding her bicycle eastbound on Bauer Drive, was struck during the turn.

Emergency responders found Lim near the rear of the bus and attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among the students or the bus driver. Another bus was sent to transport the remaining students to a reunification area.

The CRU continues to investigate the crash and has asked anyone with information to contact detectives at (240) 773-6620.
