Athens-Clarke County Announces Altered Waste Collection Schedule for Indigenous People's Day

The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department is gearing up to observe this year's Indigenous People's Day, but it means a slight change of plans for those relying on their waste services. On Monday, October 13, households outside the downtown area won’t need to take their bins to the curb.

Residents and businesses outside the downtown district should expect a delay in collection days. According to an ACC announcement, “Monday will be collected on Tuesday. Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday.” Thursday and Friday pickups will continue as usual on Friday. For those in the Downtown District, Republic Services will maintain its regular schedule, so residents can expect uninterrupted service.

Residents affected by the holiday shift are reminded to place their trash and recycling carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. to avoid missed collection. As per the ACC, regular pickup schedules will resume on Monday, October 20. For anyone still adjusting after the temporary change, operations will return to normal after that date.
