Four young children were returned to state custody after their mother, Vanessa Carr, allegedly kidnapped them during a supervised visit at Welcome Park in Atlanta. South Fulton Police reported that Carr took the children, aged 11 months to 9 years, during the scheduled visitation. Atlanta News First said that later that evening, authorities found Carr and the children at a Greyhound bus station in Atlanta.
The children—Genesis Carr, Jahdim Carr, Vincent Carr, and Jaxon Harrell—were returned to the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS), according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Authorities have not released additional details about why the children were initially removed from Carr’s custody. Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
