The Barrow County Animal Shelter is nearing full capacity, with more than 280 dogs and cats currently housed and another 120 in foster care or at offsite adoption centers. The shelter is calling on the community for urgent support as space and resources become increasingly limited, according to the Barrow County.
"During this critical time, we are in need of anyone willing to volunteer to care for the animals, foster them to free up valuable space at the shelter, or – most importantly – adopt them to give them a long, happy and successful life," quoted Barrow County Animal Control Director Jackie Fryman. She added that even an hour of volunteer time each week can make a meaningful impact.
Those interested in volunteering, fostering, or adopting can visit the Barrow County website under "Animal Control" for more information. The shelter, located at 616 Barrow Park Court in Winder, continues to receive community support. “Barrow County residents have always shown the deepest levels of compassion for our most vulnerable citizens, and we appreciate everyone who volunteers at our shelter, fosters our animals or adopts them into their forever homes,” Fryman said.
