Bay Area commuters should prepare for delays as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced lane and ramp closures on I-255 and I-55 for pavement repairs this week. According to a MoDOT report, closures will affect the eastbound side of Interstate 255 and the ramp to northbound Interstate 55 during overnight hours. Maintenance work on I-255 and I-55 is scheduled, weather permitting.
Tonight, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., two right lanes on eastbound I-255 will be closed from west of I-55 to the ramp leading to northbound I-55. Tomorrow, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews will close additional lanes, including the ramp to Lemay Ferry and the right lane from southbound I-55 to eastbound I-255. The ramp from northbound I-55 to eastbound I-255 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
From Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 p.m. until early Monday, Oct. 6, significant closures will be in effect. These include the northbound I-55 ramp to eastbound I-255, the right ramp lane from southbound I-55 to eastbound I-255, and two eastbound lanes on I-255 from I-55 to Telegraph Road (Exit 2). During this time, only one lane will remain open on eastbound I-255. The northbound I-55 ramp is expected to reopen by Saturday noon, Oct. 4, while other lane closures will continue over the weekend.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time. Normal traffic flow is expected to resume by 5 a.m. on Monday, MoDOT will provide updates if the schedule changes.
