El Paso's roads witnessed yet another tragic incident, pushing the year's traffic fatality count ever closer to the previous year's figures. On October 7, at around the 12000 block of Turner, a collision occurred between a vehicle and a bicyclist, a situation that required the expertise of the Special Traffic Investigations unit, as reported by the El Paso Police Department.
During the preliminary assessment, it was ascertained that both the vehicle's driver, Saavedra, and the bicyclist, Galvan, were traveling eastbound when Galvan executed a U-turn, inadvertently into Saavedra's direct path. This sudden maneuver precipitated the collision in the eastbound lanes, according to the police. Galvan, having sustained serious injuries, was then expeditiously transported to the hospital.
The situation took a grimmer turn on the following day, October 8. Information provided by investigators indicated the regrettable passing of Galvan at the hospital due to the crash-related injuries. His death marked the city's 48th traffic-related fatality for the year, a number slightly behind the 53 fatalities recorded at the same time in the previous year, as noted by the El Paso Police Department.
