
Thiago Abrante Da Costa, 27, of Boca Raton, has been arrested and charged with assaulting a firefighter and battering a sheriff’s deputy at a Florida Atlantic University football game. He faces a felony charge of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and misdemeanors including Simple Assault on a Firefighter and Disorderly Intoxication in a public place, according to BocaNewsNow.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. when first responders found Da Costa heavily intoxicated in Section 227 of the stadium. While being assisted down the stairs, Da Costa allegedly swung at a firefighter and a deputy, reports Boca Daily News. During the altercation, Deputy Mucia of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was reportedly kicked in the left cheek by Da Costa.
Paramedics eventually subdued Da Costa and transported him to Boca Raton Regional Hospital. After being medically cleared, he was formally arrested by Florida Atlantic University Police. Da Costa was released on his own recognizance with conditions after approximately 19 hours in custody.
