On a recent Monday, Boston police made a significant arrest in the fight against drug trafficking in the city's downtown district. According to the Boston Police Department's official report, officers took 37-year-old Mark Dioguardi, a resident of Revere, into custody. He faces multiple charges related to the trafficking of Class A substances.
The arrest occurred at around 10:30 p.m. near 41 Bowdoin Street; officers became suspicious after observing Dioguardi, who was standing in the building's entrance engaged on his cell phone and then proceeded to walk over to 13 Bowdoin Street where he sat on the front steps, this behavior prompted an officer patrolling the area to initiate a stop. During the interaction, officers found a large plastic bag on Dioguardi that contained sixteen smaller bags of fentanyl, weighing in at about 10 grams; the officers also seized $231, a digital scale, and other drug packaging materials from the suspect.
Following the discovery, Dioguardi was arrested and is slated to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court. His charges include trafficking of Class A substances, possession with intent to distribute Class A drugs—marked as a subsequent offense, and simple possession of Class A drugs. Fentanyl, known for its potency and the potential danger it possesses, continues to be a major focus for law enforcement cracking down on the regional drug trade.
