Authorities arrested two suspects following separate incidents revolving around gun violence in the Roxbury and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston, with the most recent arrest occurring yesterday afternoon. According to Boston Police Department's official statement, Shawn Walker, a 24-year-old Boston resident, was apprehended in the vicinity of 32 Seaver Street in Roxbury. He was wanted on several charges, among them carrying and discharging firearms illegally, assault and battery with serious injuries, and having a history of violent and drug-related offenses.
Walker, who is now facing his third offense for carrying a loaded firearm without a license, is expected to promptly be arraigned in Roxbury Court. The series of charges also includes possession of ammunition without an FID card and utilization of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The police's action is a part of a focused effort by the Youth Violence Strike Force to address and deter the surge in youth-related firearm incidents in the city.
Previous to this arrest, on October 23, officers from the same task force detained Devante Stinson, 23, of Boston, on Levant Street in Dorchester. Stinson was wanted under a similar warrant, with charges that include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and firearm violations. He was arraigned in Roxbury District Court subsequent to his arrest.
These arrests stem from an event reported on October 8, when at approximately 4:09 PM, police were called to the scene of a shooting at 258 Dudley Street. The victim of this shooting was rushed to a local hospital and suffered life-altering injuries. Investigations led to the identification of Walker and Stinson as suspects involved in the separate incidents.
