Boynton Beach has been grappling with the aftermath of a catastrophic collision where a Corvette, going more than twice the speed limit, resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported that on April 6, Dale James Drotar, 40, was driving his 2019 Chevrolet Corvette at an estimated 135 mph in a 45 mph zone when he crashed into a 2020 Toyota Camry, as per CBS12. The collision was so severe it bisected the Camry and ejected passenger Natalie Pierre alongside her seat and door.

Tragedy struck again, when, in an arrest affidavit, it was revealed that Drotar was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances, including hydromorphone and morphine at the time of the incident. A 200ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s with a small quantity of alcohol was found in his sports car, and his blood alcohol concentration was reported at 0.126 percent right after the crash, The Independent disclosed. This level is notably above the legal limit of 0.08 percent BAC.

In a community that came together in the face of disaster, local residents such as Adam Favereaux displayed a quick response. Favereaux rushed in to extract Drotar from his burning vehicle, telling CBS12, "I asked him if he was okay, and he said he wasn’t. He was in a lot of pain." Another resident, Glen Rogers Jr., offered aid to the surviving Camry passenger, remarking to CBS12 on the horrific scene, "All I could do was offer a little condolence, uncap her water, and give her something to drink to help her calm down."

A GoFundMe page was established in memory of Natalie Pierre, who was remembered for her vibrant spirit and her commitment to working with children on the autism spectrum, raising over $15,000 as mentioned by The Independent.

Drotar now faces multiple charges, which include Vehicular Homicide and DUI Manslaughter. Additionally, he is charged with four counts each of Reckless Driving Causing Injury and Property Damage, and DUI Causing Injury and Property Damage. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday and is held on a $540,000 bond, as The Independent reports. Details regarding his legal representation have not been made clear.
