British Airways is setting a new course for St. Louis Lambert International Airport, offering nonstop service to London Heathrow starting April 19, 2026. In what marks a significant enhancement for the St. Louis region's connectivity, the airline will operate four flights per week, with tickets now available for purchase.
Wednesday's announcement of the new route was ushered in by a gathering of local dignitaries. Among those celebrating were St. Louis County Executive Sam Page and Mayor Cara Spencer, joined hastily by leaders from various economic and community organizations. "With this direct flight, we are connecting the St. Louis region to one of the world’s most popular destinations and growing our global reach," Page said in a statement. Recognition was also given to Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, the airport's director, and her team for their contributions to the effort.
The local leadership has long advocated for increased international flights as a driver for economic and tourism growth. In the wake of Lufthansa Airlines initiating direct flights from St. Louis to Frankfurt last year and its subsequent addition of services, this announcement supplements the airport’s burgeoning transatlantic connection.
With ongoing expansions underfoot, Lambert airport is in the midst of transformation, designed to not only increase its capacity but to fuel regional business attraction. As Lambert takes on a more pronounced role on the global stage, County Executive Page foresees benefits spanning beyond swift travel. "It will also strengthen international tourism. St. Louis is a great city. More direct flights to Europe ensure more people come to realize that," he told gathered officials.
