The American Federation of Musicians Local 802 is in ongoing contract negotiations with The Broadway League, raising the possibility of a strike that could affect numerous Broadway productions. This comes shortly after The Broadway League reached a tentative three-year agreement with Actors’ Equity, addressing health care and working conditions, according to Gothamist.

AFM Local 802, which represents more than a thousand musicians, has been without a new contract since August. The union is seeking fair wages, comprehensive health coverage, and job security for freelance members. “Local 802 is still in negotiation for a fair contract and everything remains on the table, including a strike,” said President Bob Suttmann, as reported by Gothamist.

Suttmann also noted that, despite Broadway’s strong 2024–2025 season revenue of $1.89 billion, musicians are facing proposed wage reductions, potential healthcare cuts, and job insecurity.

If a strike occurs, 26 of the 31 active Broadway productions could be affected, PIX11 reports. Negotiations continue as both sides work toward a resolution.
