Broward County Animal Care is celebrating a successful year marked by increased adoptions and community support for pets across the county. According to a news release published on the strides made in animal welfare, the center reported that during the Fiscal Year 2025, they notched up adoptions to 3,894 pets, up by over 160 creatures from the previous year.

Reaching beyond adoption, the center garnered a notable surge in pet reunifications, registering a 31 percent hike to a total of 568 lucky critters back in their homes. The gears of their operations have spun faster this year with the shelter cutting down the average stay for dogs by nearly 11 days while cats also found their human companions over two days sooner.

Beyond their walls, partnerships with rescue groups propelled upward, with Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care, acknowledging a near 200 pet increase in transfers to these lifesaving allies. He attributed the success to the dedication and teamwork of staff, volunteers, and community supporters working toward a shared goal. This commitment is reflected in the shelter’s rising live release rate, which reached 82.79 percent, as noted by the county's release.

Brightwell declared, "We are building momentum, but we are just getting started," and in line with this, they're calling on more residents to pitch in, whether that's adopting, fostering, or merely lending a hand around the shelter, for those interested in more information about getting involved with Broward County Animal Care, a visit to their website or a simple call could spark another chain of life-changing events for both animals and humans alike, as reported by the news release.
