A robbery took place at a Chick-fil-A on Uptown Street this past Wednesday, leaving a potential car buyer distressed and out of his money. According to a report from the Memphis Police Department, the incident unfolded around 5:45 p.m at 550 Uptown Street, during what was supposed to be a straightforward car purchase.
The victim had arranged to meet the seller after finding a black 2015 Infiniti Q50 on Facebook Marketplace. Upon deciding to buy the car after a test drive, the buyer produced a large sum of cash. It was at that moment that the seller turned assailant, brandishing a handgun and demanding the money. The suspect then instructed the victim, “Give it here and get out of the car,” before fleeing the scene, according to the Memphis Police Department.
No injuries were reported following the robbery, but the suspect remains at large. The vehicle in question, the Infiniti Q50, which was utilized in this apparent setup, has yet to be located by authorities.
The Memphis Police Department encourages anyone with relevant information to step forward and assist in the investigation. Those able to provide details that could lead to the arrest, should contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274).
