A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools coach, Dia’Mond Johnson, has been charged with two counts of Shooting into Occupied Property. As per a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Westover Division, the arrest occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 22, marking a sharp turn for a community figure. Detectives from CMPD, in partnership with the York County Sheriff’s Office, located 27-year-old Johnson in South Carolina.

The coach, who was a non-faculty member, has his current employment status under scrutiny, with CMS representatives urging inquiries be directed to them. The shooting incident did not occur on school property and was not connected to any students, teachers, or facilities affiliated with the educational institution.

The investigation is ongoing, and CMPD’s Public Affairs Division will provide updates as new details emerge. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-2442 and speak with Westover Division Detective Robson, who is leading the case.
