Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police's University City Division officers have made significant arrests following an investigation into a loitering complaint, resulting in multiple firearms and narcotics seizures in Charlotte. According to a report on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Facebook page, on Sept. 28, officers attended the scene in the 3100 block of Brockhampton Court, where they found a vehicle blocking others and detected the scent of marijuana.

Upon further inspection, law enforcement detained four individuals after noticing concealed weapons. Their search of the vehicle uncovered several concealed firearms and suspected marijuana. It was following an interview process that officers learned of additional marijuana at one of the suspects' residences. A subsequent warrant-led search resulted in the seizure of approximately 3565.5 grams of suspected marijuana, cash, and various firearms, including a Glock 19 modified to shoot fully automatic.

Consequently, charges have been leveled against Trevor Kelly, 21, Stanley Moses, 18, Xzavier Mitchell, 21, and Xavier Simms, 24. The list of charges ranges from Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction to resisting, delaying, and obstructing. These apprehensions underscore the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police's focus on removing illegal substances and firearms from the local community.

"Thanks to the thorough investigation and attention to detail of these officers, multiple firearms and narcotics are now off Charlotte streets," the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Post. As the city continues to grapple with the issues of drugs and gun violence, such operations reflect the ongoing work of local law enforcement to prevent further escalation and maintain neighborhood safety.
