A grim morning unfolded in the Providence Division of Charlotte, where police launched a homicide investigation after a woman suffered a fatal gunshot wound. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's (CMPD) official statement, officers were dispatched to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call on the 4400 block of Barclay Downs Drive today, at approximately 6:57 a.m.
The response team found the victim upon arrival, and she was quickly transported to the hospital by MEDIC, reports say. Despite swift medical intervention, she was pronounced deceased not long after she arrived at the hospital.
