In a showing of commitment and progress in the realm of rehabilitation, five individuals marked the completion of their journey through the Cobb County Drug Treatment Court with a graduation ceremony. Joined by judges, court personnel, and supporters in the Superior Court Ceremonial Courtroom, these graduates exemplified successful alternatives to incarceration for those battling substance use disorders.
The voluntary program spans 18 to 24 months and combines judicial oversight with tailored treatment and recovery assistance—an approach fostering substantial life changes. Celebrated at the ceremony, three graduates triumphed with no positive drug tests throughout the program. According to Cobb County Government's announcement, two of the alumni have chosen to serve on the DTC Alumni Board, while another pair have taken steps to continue education in college.
A sense of pride and accomplishment was palpable as one graduate shared, "This program challenged me in ways I never expected. There were ups and downs, but I learned to trust myself again, accept help, and see that change is possible. I am proud of how far I have come and excited about the future ahead," in a sentiment that underscores the personal triumphs facilitated by such an initiative.
Superior Court Judge Jason D. Marbutt lauded the program's ability to spark change, stating, "Drug Treatment Court shows that change is possible for those who choose it. Our participants work hard to rebuild their lives and we are here to support them every step of the way." This program gives individuals a chance to rewrite their story.
