Yesterday, the Concord Police Department responded to a break-in at Sun Valley Mall. Mall security called at 3:52 AM to report the incident. Upon their swift arrival, officers found suspects exiting the premises. A pursuit ensued as four of the individuals made a getaway in a vehicle that eventually crashed. Following the collision, the driver abandoned the vehicle, fleeing on foot before being discovered concealed in nearby shrubbery, according to the Concord Police Department.
The Concord Police reported that there were no injuries stemming from the car crash. The remaining suspects who had attempted to escape in the vehicle were apprehended on the spot. One of the arrested, a juvenile, was found carrying a firearm illegally modified to function as an assault weapon. This arrest added to a string of others that night, as three additional suspects had been rounded up at the mall.
All suspects involved in the break-in are currently facing charges. The Concord Police Department confirmed that there are no suspects at large related to this event. The apprehended individuals originate from the communities of San Pablo and Richmond, with six of them being minors processed at the Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall. The sole adult in the group, Marcos Ramirez-Castro, aged 18 from Richmond, was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
